Welcome to Over Wallop Parish

Over Wallop is a small Parish with a warm and welcoming community. The facilities include a playing field, tennis court, children's playground, local pub and village shop. The church hall is used regularly for community events and gatherings. The Over Wallop Parish Council encourages all residents from Over Wallop, Kentsboro and Palestine to take part in Parish life and join our friendly neighbourhood.

The name 'Wallop' originates from the Anglo-Saxon term for a valley of springing water. The babbling Wallop Brook is a much-loved winterbourne which carves its way along Station Road on its way to the River Test. Over Wallop is a haven for wildlife and nature. A healthy community of water voles are often spotted on the bank of the brook and abundant birdlife nests in the hedgerows and woodland. Tucked into the heart of the Test Valley, Over Wallop is surrounded by rolling downland. Walk from the Parish in any direction, and you will encounter wide skies and expansive views.

Heritage and community are rooted in the values of Over Wallop. During periods of crisis, the Parish has always come together to support the vulnerable. This strong sense of community has risen time and again. From wartime Britain to the Covid-19 pandemic, the residents of Over Wallop Parish have shown they are firmly there for each other.

Over Wallop Parish Council is fundraising for a new sports pavilion to further bring our community together. Please get in touch to learn more about this initiative or any aspect of Parish life.
